The fastest way, step by step

The fastest way in full, leg by leg. The time spent moving is separated from the time spent getting to it and away from it, because both are part of the journey and only one of them is a timetable.

What matters on this route

Direct flights between Edinburgh and Oslo have come and gone with the seasons; when there is none, a change in Copenhagen or Amsterdam is the usual answer and the whole trip is around seven to ten hours.

The land route is a two-day affair: train to London, Eurostar to the continent, trains to Hamburg and Copenhagen, then through Gothenburg to Oslo. Worth it only if the journey itself is the point.
