The fastest way, step by step

The fastest way in full, leg by leg. The time spent moving is separated from the time spent getting to it and away from it, because both are part of the journey and only one of them is a timetable.

What matters on this route

Flights are frequent and take about an hour and forty minutes. Both airports are a good half hour from the city, so allow about five hours door to door.

The train is the classic way: the express services take around eighteen hours and run overnight. Business-class carriages make it comfortable, and it is much cheaper than flying.

Coaches on the motorway take a similar time to the train and run through the night. Choose a well-known operator and book a seat rather than turning up.
